Which offshore role should you hire first?

Your first offshore hire should relieve the clearest bottleneck, not the most exciting one. In promotional-products businesses, that usually means administrative and coordination work rather than anything client-facing.

01Start where the volume is

Look at where work queues up: order entry, quoting, supplier follow-up. High-volume, rules-based tasks are the easiest to hand over well and the easiest to see results from.

02The common first hires

A sales or order support administrator, an artwork coordinator, or a procurement and supplier coordinator. Each takes a specific load off your local team without needing them to own client relationships.

03Roles to hire second, not first

Anything that requires deep client judgement, negotiation or full account ownership. Those work well once your offshore team is established and your processes are proven — not as the opening move.

04Sizing the role honestly

If you can only fill 15 hours a week, combine two adjacent functions into one role rather than hiring for a half-idle seat. We'll help you shape a role description that reflects the actual work.

Ready when you are.
